9 Best Instagram Accounts for New Moms to Follow

As a new mom, there are so many things to learn on the job. Thankfully through social media, there are so many experts in their fields to educate us (for free!) on different aspects of raising kids. The biggest problem is how to know if the person you are following is giving you accurate information. Throughout my 4 years of being a mom, I have found 9 Instagram accounts I love to follow for mom education. Here is a list of the best Instagram accounts for new moms to follow!

The best Instagram accounts to follow for new moms who want extra education on raising newborns and toddlers.

The Best Instagram Accounts for New Moms to Follow Regarding Car Safety

These are the best instagram accounts to follow for new moms all about car safety! These accounts will truly help you understand how crucial car safety is for your little one.

The Car Mom– The car mom is a wonderful resource for looking into buying family cars! I wish I had known about her when I purchased my first “mom car.” Her family owns multiple car dealerships in St. Louis and she is a CPST. She reviews and tours cars for moms!! She goes over everything that you would want to know: How many car seats fit in the car? Where can they be put? Are there tether anchors in every seat? Does a stroller fit in the trunk? She is truly a gem and I think a true staple to follow for new moms.

Safe in the Seat– Michelle Pratt runs safe in the seat. She is a certified passenger safety technician and uses her account to provide car seat safety tips and tricks. I find this account so useful! Especially as a first-time mom, there are so many things you don’t realize about car seats and how to make sure they are being used properly. She also has a blog where she does car seat reviews and has recommended car seats. A must-follow Instagram account for new moms.

Baby and Toddler Sleep

Taking Cara Babies– This account is incredible. She posts all things sleep tips for babies and toddlers. Did you know infants have recommended wake windows? And if they stay up past their wake windows it can be even harder to get them to sleep? I didn’t either until I found her account! Highly recommend this Instagram account to help with your baby and toddler’s sleep. Cara is a NICU RN and a certified sleep consultant, so she knows her stuff! I highly recommend following a sleep consultant even if you do not plan on sleep training your baby. It will help you to learn good habits to instill in your baby from the beginning to promote sleep.

Best Instagram Accounts for New Moms to Follow That are Medical Professionals

When it comes to taking advice on your baby online you will want to make sure the person you are following is truly knowledgeable about their field. For example, I would not educate you on labor and delivery because I am not a labor and delivery nurse. So always look at the credentials of the person you are getting information from. These are a few of my favorite medical professionals who give away so much valuable information on their Instagrams!

Karrie Locher at Karing for Postpartum– I discovered Karrie’s account after having my first baby. She is a postpartum RN and a certified lactation counselor. She posts SO MUCH information on how to take care of yourself and your baby postpartum. Are you having trouble with a baby refusing a bottle? She has a whole highlight on that helping you troubleshoot it! She is one of my favorite accounts to follow, and as a fellow postpartum RN myself I love recommending her to friends and family!

Healthiest Baby– A pediatrician and toddler expert. Dr. Cathryn is a pediatrician and posts all things toddler on her page. This is perfect when you have a toddler who is potty training, throwing tantrums, or just a toddler in general. She posts amazing graphics packed with so much information. I truly learn so much about how to parent my toddlers through this account!

Shannon Tripp– Shannon is a mom of 5 and a pediatric ER nurse. She has a wealth of knowledge that she shares on taking care of your children when they are sick or in an emergency. Shannon posts information on respiratory symptoms to be concerned about, head injuries, choking, etc. She is such a great person to follow so you know how to act in an emergency with your child!

Milestones and Motherhood– KC is a resource who has helped me so much throughout my motherhood journey. I also found her account when I had my first baby. She is a physical therapist and posts all things about milestones for babies. This helped me know how to help my children make sure they were meeting milestones at the right time, and if not to reach out to their pediatrician.

Baby and Toddler Safety

Safe Beginnings– Holly is a baby and toddler safety expert. She gives so much information specifically toward making sure your children are safe. Holly posts all things baby proofing (which is so important!), car seat safety (she is also a CPST), and CPR. She is a great account for new moms to follow because there are so many safety aspects you don’t think about with your first baby!

Promote Physical Activity for Your Toddler

GVO Kids– I found this account through pregnancy and postpartum TV. It is a workout channel on YouTube and Jessica, the owner of the account creates toddler and kid workouts as well. This was a total game changer when I had debilitating morning sickness with my last pregnancy. I’m not very big on screen time and try to limit it as much as I can. This I am okay with because my toddlers are being active while the TV is on. My toddlers do the workouts when they are on and it is so cute to see little toddlers doing squats. Highly recommend it if you like to limit screen time, but need a few minutes to cook dinner or get something done.
