Once you graduate high school you expect your acne problems to go away completely right? I wish that was the case! Enter pregnancy, postpartum, and breastfeeding. Now not only is acne a problem again, it is hormonal acne that I could just not get rid of. I did research, went to the doctor and got prescriptions, and I’m here to tell you what has worked for me as the best skincare products for hormonal acne!

Hormonal Acne Problems
After having my second baby my hormonal acne went crazy! I was breastfeeding and was very cautious with what products I put on my face and body. But nothing was working from the drugstore/Walmart.
With that, I made an appointment with my primary care doctor to see what we could do about my acne. She told me to use sulfur soap and that it was breastfeeding safe. So that’s what I started doing. The sulfur soap helped some and I used it for about 2-3 months.
I then found out I was pregnant and immediately stopped using the sulfur soap! I wasn’t sure if it was pregnancy safe and did not want to take the chance of harming baby.
My acne then got increasingly worse again. I started doing research online and found a skincare line that is pregnancy and breastfeeding safe.
The Best Skin Care Products for Hormonal Acne
Barefaced is the best skincare line I have found. It was founded by Jordan Harper, dermatology NP. She created a medical grade skincare line that is accessible to everyone!
I’m not going to lie, this skincare line is expensive. I was hesitant at first and did not purchase for a few weeks. Finally I decided I was going to give it a try, because I was willing to try anything.
LET ME TELL YOU! After starting a Barefaced skincare routine I was confident to go without makeup again. My coworkers were complimenting how beautiful and glowing my skin was (even through morning sickness). I found the skin care products I CANNOT live without.
Here are my TOP two best skincare products for hormonal acne:
Brightening Face Wash– This face wash has been the best face wash I have ever used. And it has lasted so long! I purchased it in June of 2023 and currently (January 2024) I still have a little bit left. You just use a small dime sized amount.
The brightening face wash buffs away dead skin so that you can have brighter skin with every wash! It has alpha and beta-hydroxy acids and vitamin C. It also smells so good!
Toning Pads– The toning pads have been the literal game changer for me. If I could afford nothing else from barefaced, I would make sure to still get these toning pads. They are hands down the BEST skincare product for hormonal acne I have found!
The toning pads come in two levels: toning pads 1 and toning pads 2. Per Jordan Harper, Founder of barefaced you want to start with toning pads 1. You can move onto toning pads 2 when your face is used to toning pads 1.
The Toning pads have AHAs and BHAs to resurface the top layer of your skin and clean deep into your pores! They can help you have brighter skin by tackling clogged pores. They also increase the penetration of the products you use after them.
One of the best things about the Barefaced website is they have an ENTIRE section dedicated to pregnancy safe products! I still recommend speaking with your OB/GYN prior to starting any new skincare routine.
Have you tried Barefaced? Do you think it is worth the cost? Let me know in the comments!
